Does anyone know what website offers a free, extremely detailed stock screener? I don't like the free stock screener I currently use on Yahoo Finance. The reason I don't like it is that I want information like: return on capital, return on assets, average quarterly volume, eps, year over year growth, month over month sales, revenue margin, ownership, floats, negative surprises and so on.
I can't seem to find a website that has all of these.
First off, becareful! Most of the data you want is being provided by institutional traders! This fundamental data tells you only the propaganda that institutions want you to know. The data you need to focus on is the technical analysis. Technical analysis tells you want the institutions are actually doing with their money whereas fundamental analysis only tells you want the institutions want YOU to know. Making investment decisions based on fundamental data is a great way to get sniped and carried off the battle field in a body bag.
Nevertheless, here's the answer to your question. Scottrade. You don't have to use Scottrade. My point is that whatever online brokerage company you are using should have all of this information. If you are using an ultra-cheap brokerage firm that is only like $3 a trade and it doesn't have any of what you want, then you should consider a more expensive option like Scottrade at $7 a trade that does have all this information. Try to avoid paying $20 a month to a stock screener like StockFetcher. That's just more slippage. It is cheaper to pick a better online brokerage company that provides you with all this information as part of opening a trading account with them.
For example, check out this screen from Scottrade on DRYS. Negative and positive surprises are neatly organized into an interactive graphical user interface.
