The best jobs in America are in the hotel and restaurant businesses sectors according to an analysis of the labor report by Market Watch (link above). That says a lot about how bad the U.S. economy is right now.
At first glance, job openings climbing to 6 million in April seem amazingly awesome but the devil is in the details. With all these amazing job openings, hiring has hit a one-year low, why? The mainstream media says it’s because there’s not enough people with enough skills to fill these empty positions. Sounds sort of believable, but it’s not.
Best Jobs in America are Low Paying
More than half of the new openings in April were in the hotel and restaurant business sectors! Who doesn’t have enough skills to fill these positions? These, for the most part, are entry level jobs so how could there be a shortage of skilled workers to fill these jobs? There’s not.
What’s really going on is that Americans don’t want these lower paying jobs in the hotel and restaurant sectors and so these jobs are going unfilled.
It says a lot about the U.S. economy when the best jobs in America are coming from the hotel and restaurant business sectors. You might be wondering what about good paying jobs like manufacturing? Manufacturing jobs openings fell by 30,000. What about better paying jobs in social work, health care, and real estate? Hiring was all cut back for these higher paying jobs.
