The first participants in the 30,000 person study have been dosed, the Cambridge, Mass-based biotech company said on Monday.
Moderna’s vaccine, co-developed with the National Institutes of Health, is one of more than 160 in development to prevent the spread of the disease. Dr. Fauci is a physician with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Moderna announced Monday it had received an additional $472 million from the U.S. government to support the company’s late-stage development of its vaccine including the phase three study, which began Monday and will include more than 30,000 participants.
