NXP Semiconductors First Foreign Semiconductor Company Awarded OSCCA Certificate from China Authority
May 10, 2017: NXP Semiconductors announced that the China Office of State Commercial Cryptography Administration (OSCCA) awarded it with a certificate to become a designated producer of commercial cipher products. This certificate marks NXP as the first, and currently only, approved foreign-based semiconductor company to be awarded authorization to develop and produce certified cryptography products in China.
The certificate reinforces NXP’s strong track record, leadership in information security, and recognizes the Company’s expertise in developing products in various fields where security and confidentiality are paramount, including financial payment, mobile communications, Internet of Things (IoT), smart homes and automotive electronics.
Officials from OSCCA Shanghai hailed the move as a major step forward, showing the Chinese government’s commitment to develop security for the smart electronics industry. Authorities welcomed NXP as the latest member of China’s certified commercial cryptography producers, and expect the Company to abide China’s business regulations and laws, and to support and improve the country’s information security.
April 19, 2017: NXP Semiconductors announced that it will further its collaboration with AF Payments Inc., the company behind the contactless payment cards, beep™ cards in the Philippines, to add micropayment capabilities. The popular cards commonly used for transport ticketing in the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 1 and 2, Manila Metro Train Transit System Line 3 and popular city bus routes, can now be used to pay at the FamilyMart convenience store chain, which is the second largest chain of 24-hour convenience stores in the world.
March 9, 2017: NXP Semiconductors announced the world’s smallest single-chip SoC solution with the release of their MC9S08SUx microcontroller (MCU) family with an integrated 18V-to-5V LDO and MOSFET pre-driver that delivers ultra-high-voltage solution for drones, robots, power tools, DC fan, healthcare and other low-end brushless DC electric motor control (BLDC) applications. Extending the company’s S08 family of MCUs, the robust 8-bit MC9S08SUx microcontroller family offers 4.5V~18V supply voltage range with lower bill of materials (BOM) cost and tighter integration for higher performance and reliability. The new SoC units address the growing demand to replace multiple device solutions with a single MCU to reduce cost and system size, while simplifying integration and layout for space-constrained use cases.
